The Seagull, Mayhem Literacy Journal

'The Seagull' is a poetry/prose experiment, focusing on an unnamed protagonist finding a box with a seagull inside it in their room. Dark and surreal, it explores the protagonist's relationship with the seagull and their own life. Recently, it was performed by a cast, including Tracey Slaughter, at Mayhem Journal's Evening of Mayhem!

Sunflowers, Poetry NZ Yearbook 2021

'Sunflowers' is a poem that explores the author's relationship with the historical figures of Houdini and Vincent van Gogh. Comparing the men to each other and herself, she reflects on life and the legacy that we leave behind. This poem is dedicated to the author's best friend, Angela.

"You tell me that the mice are getting in,

point to their skinny bodies scattering
the road, an ill-formed parade. I can
see bones through their dull brown
coats and thin skin. I leave the door open,
just a crack."
